Dr. Einarsson has been a doctor for over 30 years. He completed specialization in general surgery as well as in plastic surgery. He carries specialisation qualifications in both fields in Iceland, Sweden and Denmark and has practiced medicine in all three countries.
Dr.Guðmundur Már Stefansson has been practising as a Reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Surgeon since 1994,after having studied Plastic Surgery in the U.K. since 1989. Dr.Guðmundur Már Stefansson is currently working part time as a Consultant in the Plastic,Reconstructive and Burns Unit at the National Hospital in Reykjavik,as well as doing private work in his Clinic in Domus Medica in Reykjavik. Dr Stefansson has a wide experience in Cosmetic Plastic Surgery,including breast surgery,facial rejunevation,nasal surgery,tummy tucks,liposuction etc. he has attended many international meeting and courses in Cosmetic and Reconstructive Plastis Surgery,and is a leacturer in Plastic Surgery at the University Hospital in Reykjavik.
Dr. Einarsson completed his medical studies at the University of Iceland in 1976 and was granted his general practitioner’s license in December of 1977. He undertook his graduate studies in general surgery in Sweden and worked at hospitals both in Gothenburg and Eksjö. He was granted his Swedish and Icelandic surgeon’s qualifications upon completing his studies in Sweden. After completing his qualifications for general surgery, Dr. Einarsson went on to study plastic surgery at Copenhagen University Hospital. He was granted his licenses to practice plastic surgery in Iceland, Sweden and Denmark in 1985. He is licensed for both general and plastic surgery in all three countries. From 1986, Dr. Einarsson has worked at the plastic surgery department at the National University Hospital in Iceland and served as head of department from January 1994 until June of 1995. Dr. Einarsson is one of Iceland’s most experienced plastic surgeons and the national expert in procedures to correct cleft lips and palates in children. Dr. Einarsson has worked at Domus Medica since 1986 and since then completed countless plastic and corrective surgeries.
Dr. Einarsson has participated in many conferences, made countless presentations and frequently publishes his findings in medical journals. In October of 2006, he held three presentations on plastic surgery, burns and cleft lip and palate surgery at an international conference in Peru. Through the years, Dr. Einarsson has conducted clinical training at Renströmska Hospital in Gothenburg, the Icelandic National Nursing School, the physical therapy training program at the University of Iceland, and in the University of Iceland Medical School. He has been an active member of the Icelandic Society of Plastic Surgeons as well as in the Nordic community of plastic surgeons and in their professional organisation. He has sat on the boards of the Society of Medical Students, the Reykjavík Medical Society and Domus Medica. In addition to his Icelandic medical licence, he is authorised to practice medicine in Denmark. He speaks Danish, Swedish and English fluently. Dr. Einarsson has continued his education throughout his medical career and has completed various courses in Denmark, Japan and California.
