Procedures

Most common types of plastic surgery

In Dr. Einarsson’s list of procedures performed in 2004, the most common are procedures on the upper or lower eyelids, which account for about 44% of all surgeries he performed at his Domus Medica clinic. Occasionally a patient receives surgery on both the upper and lower eyelids at the same time. Second most common is breast augmentation which account for 25% of Dr. Einarsson’s plastic surgeries performed outside the hospital. The third most common, at 11%, is liposuction. Breast lift surgeries accounted for 6% of Dr. Einarsson’s procedures, with others accounting for the remaining 5%.

In addition to these most common procedures, injectable fillers can be used to enhance lips or reduce the appearance of wrinkles. The use of injectable fillers does not qualify as plastic surgery, but is rather a cosmetic procedure. Laser treatments for the face are not uncommon and can be performed by either a surgeon or nurse depending on the nature. Most of these procedures are described on the site of Laserlækning (Icelandic only). Many other procedures are available in Dr. Einarsson’s clinic although they may not be listed on the website, including corrective nipple surgery, procedures for the hands, and procedures to reduce heavy perspiration to name a few. Information on these and even less common procedures can be obtained from the surgeon himself.
